Can cigars be stored in the refrigerator?

This is a question that one hears frequently from people who are new to cigars and who do not yet have a humidor. The humidity level in a refrigerator is usually much lower than the humidity level in the home itself. Therefore, when they are stored in the refrigerator, there are two important risks: one, that the cigars will quickly dry out and two, that they will absorb foreign odours. If you are still hesitant about buying a humidor you should keep the cigars in plastic bags or metal tubes and then smoke them within a week, at most. If you want to keep cigars longer than that, you should consider purchasing a humidor.
